Instead
of staying the same, all species gradually change as one generation
follows the next. This process is called evolution. Evolution changes
the way things look, and also the way they live, which helps them in the
struggle to survive. During the history of life, evolution has produced
a huge range of species. Some are alive today, but many others are now
extinct.
