Islands

Tens of thousands of islands dot the world's oceans. Most of the largest islands are areas of land that have been cut off by rising sea levels, or pushed above the waves by movements of the Earth's crust. Many smaller islands are volcanoes rising from the sea floor, and some are made entirely of coral.
