Menu Ideas

 

Fiesta Fun

  • Baked tortilla chips, three ounces

  • Salsa, one-quarter cup, in an empty, cleaned yogurt or plastic-covered container

  • Cheddar cheese, reduced fat, two-ounce wedge

  • Clementine or orange

  • Low-fat milk, eight ounces

 

B.O.B. (Big on Bagels)

  • Whole grain bagel, four ounces

  • Light cream cheese, three tablespoons
    (Spread light cream cheese on bagel and slice in half.)

  • Mozzarella sticks, two

  • Red pepper, one-half, sliced into rings

  • Granny Smith apple

  • Low-fat milk, eight ounces

 

Honey of a Sandwich

  • Sliced cheese (any kind your child likes)

  • Whole grain bread (2 slices)

  • Honey mustard
    (Spread mustard on bread, top with sliced cheese, slice in half or quarters)

  • Carrots sticks (1 cup)

  • Italian salad dressing (2 tablespoons)
    (Packing tip: Pour salad dressing in bottom of small container. Stack carrots sticks on top. Cover)

  • Grapes, 1/2 cup

  • Low-fat milk, 8 ounces

 

Pasta Power

  • Elbow macaroni, cooked, 1 cup

  • Carrots, celery, or peppers, chopped, 1/2 cup

  • Italian salad dressing, 2 tablespoons

  • Breadsticks, 2

  • Applesauce, individual 4 ounces serving (Don't forget to pack the spoon!)

  • Low-fat milk, 8 ounces

Mix macaroni, and chopped vegetables, with salad dressing. Pack plastic utensils for the salad and applesauce.

 

Good Ol' Peanut Butter

  • 10 saltine crackers

  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter

  • Peaches, canned, juice packed, individual serving

  • Yogurt, nonfat, 8 ounces

  • Green pepper sticks, 1/2 pepper

  • Low-fat milk, 8 ounces

Spread peanut butter on five crackers, top with additional cracker. Pack a plastic spoon for the peaches and yogurt.
