  Chocolate Chai

Makes 2 - 3 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 black tea bag, such as orange pekoe, English breakfast, Lapsang souchong, or Darjeeling

  • 1/2 cup boiling water

  • 3 tablespoons raw sugar or granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder

  • 2 cups milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  •    Whipped cream

  •    Cinnamon sticks

Method

In a small saucepan pour boiling water over tea bag. Cover; let stand 3 to 5 minutes. Remove tea bag. Stir in sugar and cocoa. Cook and stir over medium heat just until mixture comes to boiling. Stir in milk, vanilla, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg; heat through. Do not boil. Pour into mugs. Top with whipped cream; add a cinnamon stick to each serving. Makes 2 or 3 servings.
