Serves: 4-6
Ingredients

1½ cup green whole moong dal (green whole lentil)

1 large onion, chopped
-
2 tomatoes, chopped
-
1 tbsp ginger-garlic crushed
-
3 green chilies, chopped
-
1 bay leaf
-
½ tsp turmeric powder
-
1 tsp coriander powder
-
½ tsp cumin powder
-
¼ tsp chili powder
-
¼ tsp garam masala powder
-
1 tbsp vegetable oil
-
salt to taste
-
juice of 1 lemon
-
handful of chopped coriander leaves
Method

Wash and soak the lentil (dal) for 4-5 hours.

Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add the bay leaf and onions.

Fry till onions turn light brown.

Now add the green chilies and ginger-garlic.

Sauté for a minute.

Now add tomatoes and the dry spices.

Fry for a minute. Add the washed, soaked lentil (dal)

Mix well and add 2½ cups of warm water.

Add little salt, coriander leaves and lime-juice.
-
Close lid and pressure cook for 15 minutes.
Serve hot with rice or rotis.
